There are two main buildings at the Expo. The south one houses studios like Ubisoft, Capcom or Bethesda, the IndieCade area, the retro/history museum and student showcases. The west building houses the big publishers like Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo and a set of studios devoted to new human interaction devices.
The Expo is full of diverse kinds of people. From those who are interested in playing new games which have not come out yet, to those who are coming for business. You can visit both buildings in just one day. But if you want to try some of the games, especially the big titles, you will need more time because of the queues. I suggest you to make a first day trip around all companies and a second day to revisit all the Expo and play whatever you like most.
We started our route in the south building. First we visited the IndieCade zone. Here you can find a selection of games with a particular focus on creativity and new ways of entertainment. All of them are interesting for different reasons but I suggest you to look at these ones: Velocibox, Tetheron and Butt Sniffin Pugs. Here have some images of them.
The second point we visited was the history museum. Nothing to say. Just a fun place to see. Here you can find me playing the Atari Video Pinball, probably the precursor of Arkanoid.
Then we continued with the big well-known studios and their new proposals. All the stands look so pretty with big sculptures and posters. They also give out freebies and organize different peculiar types of contests. Below I show you a collection of photos depicting all this stuff.
Of all the games we played, I consider Cuphead to be of special interest. An awesome 2D platform game with lovely 30’s concept art. Here you can see a trailer.
Finally, a zone that must be visited is the one which contains all the new devices devoted to improving game experience. Some of the companies we visited were Oculus, Virtuix, Siming Tech, and Nod Labs. The following images show some of these technologies.
Ah! I forgot to say one interesting thing. All the big events like E3, have some interesting activities that are scheduled outside but at the same time. There are mostly company the parties but this year we had the opportunity to attend the Distant Worlds Final Fantasy Concert. I will close this post entry with a photo of it. I highly recommend it to you. ;)
